Papovyan's works of art have been exhibited in Russia and Latvia(1980-1986), Sudan(1981), France(1990, 19907, 2001, 2006), Germany(2000) and Armenia(1972-2007)
Even his very first exhibitions impressed museum visitors with the maturity of his art. With outstanding proficiency and unique individuality, his sculptures manifest themselves through the choice of non-standard forms, with the skill of practiced hands molding his ideas into mysterious and metaphorical shapes.
The sculptor percieves the world around him in all its diversity; he reveals its hidden qualities and essences, establishing an intimate dialogue with nature in his efforts to transmit its inward unity and plastic perpetuity.
Utilizing various materials: stone, bronze, wood, clay, plaster.
Papovyan imbues forms with mervelous expressiveness and monumentality. Transforming space ti his own purposes, his sculptures reflect qualities of the grotesque and the comic,the keen and the cunning, as well as the epic and heroic.
His works of art are in the National Gallery of Armenia(Yerevan), the Museum of art of Armenia(Yerevan), the Tretyakov Gallery(Moscow), and in numerous private collections(Yerevan, Riga, Kiev, Paris, Ulm, Marseille, Los-Angeles, etc.) The artist lives and works in Armenia.
